The defining character is a leaf found nowhere else in the genus: a dramatically elongated, narrow central lobe tapering to a fine point, flanked by two widely spreading lateral lobes extending outward at a broad angle from the base — a trident-like, deeply tri-lobed silhouette that becomes progressively more exaggerated and refined with each successive leaf as the plant climbs.
